Our Story

Neighbors helping Neighbors

Hogan House Food Pantry & Support Center began with a simple belief: neighbors helping neighbors creates lasting change. What started as a grassroots response to local needs in Columbia, Missouri grew through relationships built on trust, dignity, and consistency. From the beginning, Hogan House has focused on walking alongside individuals and families, offering support that strengthens lives and builds long-term stability.
The foundation of Hogan House was laid by Sue and Ginger Riley, whose compassion and commitment shaped its earliest days. They invested deeply in the neighborhood, responding to real needs with humility, presence, and care. Sue and Ginger helped create a space where people felt welcomed, valued, and respected.
As community needs grew, Hogan House evolved into a trusted local resource. Informal support expanded into structured programs addressing food insecurity, personal growth, youth engagement, and community connection. While services have grown, the heart of Hogan House remains unchanged. Relationships come first, dignity is always honored, and support is designed to empower rather than create dependency.
Today, Hogan House continues to serve individuals and families throughout Columbia and the surrounding area. Through our food pantry, classes, youth programs, and neighborhood outreach, we remain committed to meeting practical needs while fostering connection and hope. Our work is rooted in knowing people by name and supporting them without judgment.
